Services

We often tell people planning for college is not as hard as brain surgery or as tough as building an atomic bomb in your spare time in the back yard with tin cans, but it is more than just filling out some forms, doing a dance, saying a prayer and hoping everything works out!

College has gotten so competitive, and the process to get into college, especially with free money to help pay for it, has gotten very complicated. We provide hands-on coaching services to students and parents we feel have the potential to receive huge value from being a part of our process.

Our client selection process consists of each family completing a fact finder and meeting with us personally to discuss their individual situation. From there, we take one of two steps:

“The National Center For College Planning saved us a small fortune…”

It worked! The appeal you helped us draft helped us earn $20,000 more in guaranteed awards for our daughter over the next 4 years! That is money we would have missed if it had not been for your guidance. When I add the scholarships to the tax deductions we are now getting because of your advice, it saves us over half of what we thought we were going to have to pay for college. The National Center For College Planning saved us a small fortune and working with Jason Flurry gave us the peace of mind to know we were in good hands.! We can’t wait to start planning for our son who is entering high school next year!

1. For those whose situation is not that complicated and/or for those who do not stand to get at least a 300% return on the investment required to hire us, we offer them as much help as we can and work sort of like MapQuest – turn here, go there, etc. and you'll get to where you want to go.

2. For those whose situation is more complex and/or for those who have opportunities to save a fortune through more comprehensive planning, we offer varying levels of our services. Each offer is made with a minimum return on investment goal of at least 300%. (In other words, if we charge $2,500 for one of our packages, we expect to be able to deliver at least $7,500 in tangible value to that client in the first year!) If that cost to value relationship is not there, we do not take that client and they fall into the first scenario listed above.

Some of the services we provide include:

  • We will perform a Career Search (include education requirements, career description, as well as starting salary estimates). These will based on the general interests of the student and they will be given access to an on-line program (DISCOVER®) which maintains this information.
  •

    • We will provide access and feedback on a Career Search (which includes education requirements, career description, as well as starting salary estimates, and much more) based on the general interests, abilities and values of the student.  This process will be conducted through an on-line program (DISCOVER®) designed by the same company that administers the ACT exam.
    •

    • We will perform a student interview to discuss their career/major choices, college selections, as well as admission and career tips we’ve gleaned over the years. We’ll do a lot of what their Guidance Counselor should be doing, but probably isn’t.
    •

    • We will provide a “Best Fit” Potential College Search based on the DISCOVER® results and the information gathered in the student interview.  We will also provide detailed research on up to 10 colleges selected by the student and/or give additional recommendations, if needed.
    •

    • We will allow your student access to our Client-Only “College Admissions Application Boot Camp” and workbook, which will entail discussing admissions requirements, admissions essays, resumes, selecting the right colleges, how to fill out the different types of admission applications, and what the student should be doing now.
    •

    • We will review up to 3 essays per student and provide a written critique for each.
    •

    • We will provide you with a College Planning Checklist containing essential deadlines, up-coming events, and timelines as to what we will be doing for you and your student and when.
    •

    • We will calculate your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) and provide a plan to potentially reduce your EFC by thousands of dollars per year.
    •

    • We will calculate financial aid award estimates for each school under consideration including the amount of free money and loans you should receive, as well as recommending additional schools to be considered that are a good match for your student AND generous with their grant monies.
    •

    • We will provide a detailed financial overview and recommendations showing you ways to potentially improve your tax situation, retirement, cash flow, and other areas of financial management.
We will analyze your financial situation and provide appropriate recommendations for the best way to pay for your share of college costs without you having to eat beans and rice for the next several years, mortgaging your house to the hilt, or completely destroying your retirement accounts. (By the way, just the peace of mind of knowing where this money will come from for ALL of your children is worth our fee alone!)
    •

    • We will provide our proprietary “tax scholarship” information, if you make too much money to qualify for any need based aid, which is guaranteed to save you thousands of dollars a year.
    •

    • We will complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on your behalf accurately and on time so you won’t have to deal with this at all
    •

    • We will register your student for the CSS Profile, complete it accurately, on time for schools that require it.
    •

    • We will provide assistance with any other Institutional financial aid forms that are required by the individual schools per our clients’ request.
    •

    • We will confirm the accuracy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) and make any adjustments.
    •

    • We will provide periodic updates letting you know “what you need to be aware of or what you should be doing now” to keep everyone on-track.
    •

    • We will sponsor a client-only event in the Spring of your child’s senior year to discuss negotiation strategies, how to read your award letters, what to do if they don’t offer you enough aid, as well as additional tax and budgeting tips to revolve around paying for college.
    •

    • Compare your award letters and professionally evaluate if your offer was fair.
    •

    • We will provide you with the exact steps to follow when negotiating with the colleges (we can’t negotiate directly with the schools, but we will hold your hand through the whole process).
    •

    • We will provide updates of changes in legislature relating to college tax laws or anything that might affect your financial situation through our newsletter and weekly e-mail updates.
    •

    • We will provide your student with unlimited telephone support (your student can call or email us as much as they wish with as many questions as they wish).

“…I’m actually better off financially than I was when we started their planning. Thank you for making it all possible.”

When I first met Jason Flurry at the National Center For College Planning, I thought he was asking a lot for his services. I was out of work at the time and money was tight. He showed me how to get the money I would need to get my twins through college and helped me improve the way I was managing my savings and cash flow. As scary as it was at that time, I still felt comfortable following Jason’s advice. All I can say now is I’m glad I did! The boys are in college and doing well. And I’m actually better off financially than I was when we started their planning. Thank you for making it all possible. In hindsight, I still think it is a lot of money to spend for a college planning program - but I would gladly do it again a hundred times over if I could get the kind of results you have gotten for us!

“We are now paying less to send our son to an out of state college than we would have paid to keep him in Georgia on the HOPE scholarship.”

We got a very late start planning for college. Our son was a good student, but not one to set any academic records. Naturally, he was looking at the most expensive private universities and out of state colleges, which scared my husband and I to death! Thankfully, we met Jason Flurry just in time. His company helped Zach get money at every college where he applied. He even helped us compare award offers and get $12,000 more in free money from Zach’s number 1 college! We are now paying less to send our son to an out of state college than we would have paid to keep him in Georgia on the HOPE scholarship. I didn’t think that was possible, but we are experiencing it first hand because of help we received from the National Center For College Planning. I would recommend them to anyone who is worried about how to pay for college. Jason worked miracles for our family and we are telling everyone we know to go see him – before it is too late!
