Are you in over your head?

As educators and counselors these days, you’re expected to do more than just provide guidance on high school. Most parents rely on you to help their student go beyond high school successfully, and since colleges have become so competitive and financial aid has become so complicated, we understand you can’t be all things to all people.

Even if you are providing first class counseling services like:

  • assisting in college searches
  • conducting college and career assessments based on each student’s interest, abilities and values
  • helping develop well organized, easy to read essays and resume’s, and
  • helping students stay on top of deadlines, scholarships, and financial aid,

(which only a small handful are really doing all or most of these effectively)

Are you able to take the time to help parents navigate through the financial aid delivery system (click to see the Department of Education’s “Simplified View” of this system) and negotiate their best offers for college?

Do you understand how to determine whether or not the colleges are giving your students fair offers?

And can you devote dedicated time, staff and resources to hold both student’s and parent’s hands all the way through the process without compromising the job you are doing with other families?

If so, out hats are off to you. You are in the top one-tenth of one percent of educators and counselors in the country! Unfortunately, the reality for the rest of you is that it’s impossible to do all of these things and still manage your work load, which is already full most days now. We understand – it’s tough! But do parents understand?

So what if you’re not providing these services now? Where do parents go to get them? Who do you refer them to as a resource or for assistance? Other than bluntly telling them you can’t help them, how do you handle letting them know they are on their own for college? How are they supposed to find their way alone when studies show most can’t and don’t?

Contact us today and let us partner with you. We have the experience needed to help educators like you provide practical solutions to families struggling with how to get their kids into the college of their dreams (and find ways to pay for it that don’t ruin their finances)! Together we can make you more effective and help make your students and their families more successful!
